What's SPLAT? SPLAT stands for Summer Public Library Activities for Teens . . . unless its not summer, when SPLAT stands for Spectacular Public Library Activities for Teens. Sha. Why SPLAT? To connect the library with teens, so we know what you are interested in, which helps us when we pick out books, movies and cds. We take your requests and suggestions for stuff the library should add to its collection! Do you have a MySpace? Be SPLATs friend were www.myspace.com/clydesplat - but were private so you have to add us as a friend. (TYVM! J)We like to make sure you know how to use library services (like ordering in books from other libraries...) and that you feel comfortable asking for help! Also, SPLAT is to just have fun. You can be in SPLAT if you are in the 7th grade. You dont have to be thirteen. You cant be in SPLAT if you have graduated and are over 18. Sorry. SPLAT meets during the school year on Wednesdays from 3 4:30. Those of you in after school activities can still SPLAT by coming to Lunch with the Librarian at Clyde High School. (McPherson, Ill talk to you later.) |
Lunch with the Librarian What is it? Lunch with Jill in the large group room of the Media Center at the High School! Bring your lunch or be served delicious peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chips, apples, milk, and a treat by Jill. I usually have a couple of giveaways, books and such. I am there all three lunch mods its a good time to touch base, to let me know whats happening and how the library can be involved, to tell me about what youre reading, watching, listening to . . . Chaos Otaku - You have to be 13 to attend Chaos Otaku, the anime club that meets at the library on the second Saturday of the month (usually) from 1 pm to 3 pm. (Anime is Japanese (usually) cartoons. Manga is the comic book form of anime.) Theres a lot of talk about: going to Ohayocon, going to Animarathon again, planning a Cosplay skit, making Cosplay costumes, planning our own chibi con, doing AMVs. Youll decide at the meeting what well be doing this year . . . |
